Cognitive Remediation Program at Rehabilitation Specialists

The goal of cognitive remediation is to improve the individual’s overall functioning by addressing aspects of cognition that have been compromised by injury or disease.

ASSESSMENT
Treatment protocol is determined by a multidisciplinary approach to assessment beginning with a neuropsychological evaluation. Impressions by cognitive therapists, as well as occupational and speech therapists, assist in determining a very individualized treatment protocol. All cognitive remediation programs are established to allow for ongoing re-assessment of progress. Such re-assessment allows ongoing modification of protocols, if needed, to ensure that the individual’s potential is maximized.

TREATMENT
Treatment focuses on directly improving all areas of cognition, including but not limited to attention/concentration, memory, language, motor speed, executive functions (planning-organization-goal setting-awareness issues) and on the teaching, development, and implementation of accommodation and coping strategies.
