Psychotherapy treatment addresses the individual as a whole and integrated being, with specific emphasis on emotionality, personality, behavior, and relating.
DIAGNOSES/CONDITIONS/AILMENTS
Treatment protocol is determined by a multifaceted approach to assessment. The psychologist will conduct his/her own assessment of the individual’s emotionality and personality. In addition, he/she will incorporate information from all other relevant disciplines, including cognitive, speech, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. An individualized treatment approach then is established based on the individual’s cognitive functioning, personality and emotional functioning, and overall behavioral presentation and associated circumstances. Support systems (i.e., family) often play an important role within this context as sources of feedback and/or as a direct part of the treatment.
TREATMENT
Treatment focuses directly on resolution of symptoms and on the teaching, development, and implementation of accommodation and coping strategies. Education is a critical and continuous component of treatment.
